Terra Lightfoot Announces Orchestral Shows
Terra Lightfoot has wowed audiences from Vancouver to Halifax and held her own against the bombast of fireworks this summer when she crowned Hamilton’s Pan Am Games closing celebrations in a symphonic rock spectacular. Now fans will have an amazing chance to experience the performer’s talent, charm and emotional power as never before.
On Saturday December 5, the tuneful roots-rocker will reprise this summer’s knockout collaboration with Boris Brott and the National Academy Orchestra for two hour-long concerts — 7:30pm to 8:30pm and 9:00pm to 10:00pm — on one memorable night only at McMaster University’s LIVELab. Terra will be joined by a handful of special guests, new orchestral arrangements will be premiered and the entire set will be recorded. It’s an evening not to be missed.
Last seen together onstage at Hamilton’s Pier 4 Park on July 26, Lightfoot and the NAO will revisit the sweeping orchestral treatment of songs off her sensational sophomore album Every Time My Mind Runs Wild (Sonic Unyon Records). But where Pier 4 Park contained thousands, LIVELab seats just a fraction of that, making this an unprecedented opportunity to get an up-close glimpse of what critics across the country are buzzing about.
Located within the McMaster Institute for Music & the Mind on the second floor of the university’s Psychology Complex, the LIVELab is a unique 100-seat research performance hall designed to investigate the experience of music, dance, multimedia presentations, and human interaction (LIVE stands for Large Interactive Virtual Environment).
One of the most sophisticated, high-tech concert venues in the world, the $8-million LIVElab is equipped with a state-of-the-art Constellation sound system, designed in Berkeley, California by Meyer Sound, and tailored for the room. The remarkable results were made possible by eight years of planning and two years of construction — but brought to life by the outstanding talents of Lightfoot and the NAO.
With just 100 seats in the LIVElab, access to this exceptional evening featuring Terra Lightfoot with Boris Brott and the National Academy Orchestra and special guests is extremely limited. Tickets (general admission, all-ages) are $24.99 (plus all applicable service charges), on sale Monday, November 23 at noon through Ticketfly and Dr. Disc Hamilton.
